在古典樂器裡蘊藏獨立與土地的力道 – Cicada

成軍於2009年，Cicada以鋼琴、木吉他、小提琴、大提琴四種樂器交織而成。之所以取名為Cicada（蟬）是因為，人們察覺到蟬的出現，往往是聽到牠們的聲音，而不是看見其形體。

2010年，Cicada 的第一場公開演出，是為冰島鋼琴作曲家 Ólafur Arnalds 台北演唱會開場；隔年推出首張正式專輯《散落的時光》，創作概念延伸自EP《Over the Sea / Under the Water》；2013年的迷你專輯《一起走吧》以「少女」為題，拆散既有編制，以輕巧的配器呈現截然不同的面貌。

第四件作品《邊境消逝》則是Cicada至今醞釀最久的一張專輯，其以臺灣西海岸為主題，用一種擬人化的方式，想像這片土地面對各種變遷時的心路歷程。如果過去的Cicada是較為內傾的，現在希望能展現向外開展的姿態；若從前的主題是個人情感的梳理，這次則是專注於匯聚溫柔的能量。Cicada細細斟酌每一個音符，將自己對土地的關愛注入其中，這些曲目是以渺小而感性的心思，努力描繪身在臺灣的慨歎與期待。可以視為一個小結，也是一個開始。

 

 

Cicada were formed in Taiwan in 2009. The group consists of a violinist, cellist, acoustic guitarist and pianist. The group chose the name because cicadas are known for their sound rather than their form.

Cicada’s debut performance was as the opening act for Ólafur Arnalds’ concert in Taipei in 2010. Their first album, “Pieces”, evolved from the band’s first EP “Over the Sea/Under the Water", and was released the following year. In 2013, Cicada experimented with different combinations of instruments, recording the playful mini album “Let’s Go".

Cicada had always planned to dedicate the album “Coastland" to Taiwan’s western coast. The album brings to life the land and explores the changes and damage it has undergone in recent years. Whereas their music had tended to be more inward-looking, with this album, Cicada have reached out beyond themselves and to the tropical island they hold so dear.
